Valerie Richardson

Meet Valerie

Valerie Richardson was drawn to Bellingham in 2000, after she grew tired of living in bigger cities as required by her previous career in engineering. She decided to embark on a new adventure, living in and investing in the Bellingham area, and started Richardson Property Management LLC shortly after moving. In 2002, she joined John L. Scott’s Bellingham office, where she currently works as a real estate broker.

Valerie often helps clients in Fairhaven, the South Hill and Lake Whatcom, though she has experience in various other cities and communities in Whatcom County. She focuses on luxury homes and Bellingham view homes, but has a wide scope of buying and selling experience. It is all those experiences combined with the people she meets in real estate that makes this career an ideal fit for Valerie. She enjoys all aspects of her work, including finding the right property, rolling out a full-blown marketing plan, and navigating negotiations and even contracts!

As a member of John L. Scott’s relocation team, Valerie often helps people who are moving to or from the Bellingham area for work. She has a unique perspective when it comes to understanding the challenges faced by those relocating, because of her own experiences moving for engineering positions from coast to coast in the U.S. Her technical background also makes Valerie skilled at understanding the numbers: from market trends, to housing inventories and capitalization rates.

Giving back is important to Valerie, who has given a portion of each commission to the John L. Scott Foundation since 2002. She has also served on the development committee for the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention and has rescued/adopted nine pets (both dogs and cats).

Bellingham

Bellingham is a lot of things. A college town. The northernmost city in the contiguous United States. A mid-point between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. A beer lover’s paradise. But more than anything it is, hands down, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Views from Bellingham include Mt. Baker and the Cascades, Bellingham Bay and the tree-lined San Juan Islands. The water of Bellingham Bay provides opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, and viewing the spectacular craggy, coastline. And with Mt. Baker at our doorstep, winter sports like skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing are moments away. The city is great for bicyclists. With more than 60 miles of bike lanes on the roads and almost 70 miles of trails, getting on your bike for a jaunt is both easy and picturesque. The trails are great for an afternoon stroll or longer hike too. Bellingham has long been a gathering place for creatives. Artists from the literary, theater, musical and visual arts make up a vibrant scene that attracts both residents and visitors. Seattle is 90 miles to the south, and Vancouver is about 50 miles to the north, which means those arts and cultural centers are just a drive away as well. If you’d like to learn more about Bellingham, let us know. We’d love to show you around and help you find your perfect home.
